With reference to Your Lordship's

Despatch No. 67 of the 27th. of last April, I have the

honour to £eir enclose copies of further printed papers

on the subject of the proposed Hongkong University.

With reference to the subscrip-

-tion by the Chinese Government, I have the honour to

enclose copies of telegrams which have passed in this

connection from which Your Lordship will note that the

donation is entirely unconditional.

observe with pleasure from the enclosed papers that the

subscriptions promised to the Endowment Fund already exceed

a million dollars.
